Smart glass partitions, also called switchable smart glass, switchable privacy glass or PDLC glass partitions, have the PDLC layer laminated inside the glass instead of applied to its surface. The result is a sealed panel of electric privacy glass that switches from clear to frosted in under 0.1 seconds and cleans like ordinary glass on both sides. Switchable glass technology like this suits any space that needs to be open most of the day and private on demand.
We supply laminated smart glass in a 6 mm + PDLC + 6 mm build, either as glass only for your fit-out contractor or as a complete aluminium partition supplied and installed by SmartFrost. Both options use Japanese PDLC film from Mitsubishi or Toray.

What is a smart glass partition?
A glass partition built with laminated switchable glass. A PDLC layer is sealed between two panes, so the partition turns from clear to frosted at the touch of a switch.
What glass build do you supply?
Our standard build is 6 mm clear glass + PDLC interlayer + 6 mm clear glass, supplied alone or with an aluminium partition system and installation.
Should I choose smart glass or smart film?
Choose smart glass for new partitions, where the glass is being installed anyway. Choose smart film to upgrade glass that is already in place, without replacement. See the smart film price guide.
How is a smart glass partition controlled?
The same way as smart film: glass touch wall switch, RF remote, mobile app, Google Home or Alexa, or integration with KNX, Crestron, Lutron and Control4.
